Our Journey

Equiptech is more a concept rather than a company. The initiative was taken by an entrepreneur having broader thought to address Gap in a system/ technology/process. It’s a story of a Government employee who have chosen a bumpy way to reach the Goal sacrificing a comfort zone. It’s a journey of a man who believed on philosophy of successor to support & protect the family business and it’s employees, It’s a story of a Bengali entrepreneur trying to build ecosystem based on innovation & technology which is the heritage of Bengal entrepreneurship.

In early 20th century, Bengali enterprises succeeded to establish a manufacturing and industrial foothold in colonial India as a Swadeshi endeavors’. This was a time when most of the industrial and business infrastructure were in the grips of the imperial economic exploitative machinery who were aided by the objective of the British colonial administration to keep Indian economy underdeveloped. Swadeshi entrepreneurs, like Martin Burn of Sir Biren Mookerjee, Bengal Chemicals of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray being the grandees.

Mr B Dutta, an engineer in a largest Defence PSU was thinking day & night how to come out from the disciplinary boundary to follow his dream to be independent. His in law was an small industrialist having manufacturing business of material handling equipment for sectors like Power, Mines etc. During his professional career, he came across an unique electronic product which can be an integral product of the system being manufactured by their family company. He found a way to safely come out from the comfort zone by venturing into this product. He approached to various OEM across world and finally succeeded in a venture with a MNC. He started distributing this product under the name of their family company which became a major business for them. He could able to bring professionals to run this business. But the business was facing tough time for survival for stiff competition. Suddenly the MD faced severe heart attack and it was his call to take decision to lead the business from front. The 1st year of his joining, the company was witnessed double digit growth in turnover. It’s the beginning of adventure.

He realized that any MSME is having tremendous opportunity to grow if they could be managed with corporate culture and professionalism. Before joining the business, he also started pursuing his Post Graduation in International Business from IIFT. During his study with job, he always tried to identify the ways to expand the business in international market. He took a dissertation project on export competitiveness for MSME from Howrah cluster. He took the passion to organize these sector with corporate fashion and founded the knowledge based consulting & service company EquipTech. Equiptech started with four major business wings, e.g; Consulting, B2B Global representation, Parts & Maintenance service for OEM’s product. His own family business was a case study for Equiptech and the CAGR growth was remarkable. Today, the family business is in rapid pace of transformation from owner driven to employee driven company.
